SERIES CLASS: Yoga & Nutrition taught by Kellie Adkins, MS, eRYT, Beginning Thursday, March 4, 5:15-6:45 PM. $80 for 6 classes (3/4-4/8). Jeweled Lotus tm Yoga, Leesburg, FL.
We all know how important it is to exercise and to make healthy food choices...but sometimes we need a little help! Drawing form her extensive background in evidence-based Nutrition Sciences and the disciplines of yoga & meditation, Kellie will guide you through an exciting journey to a happy, healthier you! In this series class we will learn how our yoga practice can help to inform and support our healthy food choices - and how those healthy food choices can make our practice grow! Part workshop, part self-study, and part yoga class, be prepared to interactively learn how to implement some valuable healthy lifestyle tools that will keep you feeling fit & trim throughout your life. All are welcome - no prior yoga experience necessary! You will be given hand-outs and "homework" at each session and support throughout the class. Monthly members pay $72 for all 6 classes, all others $80 for the 6-class series. Class meets Thursdays, beginning March 4, from 5:15-6:45 pm. REGISTER NOW as there is a 10 person limit for the course.

Jeweled Lotus tm Yoga offers many types of Hatha Yoga & Creative movement classes weekly, including the original "Total body workout" - Power/Vinyasa Flow yoga, a movement tradition thousands of years old! - which will tone the cardiovascular & respiratory system, build lean muscle, increase flexibility, and build core strength. Class Descriptions Level 1 Classes: for beginners or those looking for a gentle yoga practice
Yoga Basics: A gentle yoga class designed to give you the foundation of a Hatha Yoga practice. No prior yoga experience necessary. You may purchase a one-time "Yoga Basics" package for $99 which includes an Ecofriendly yoga mat, a 5-class pass (pass to be used for the Yoga Basics class ONLY), and a reusable Jeweled Lotus Y oga water bottle.
Restorative Yoga: A gentle yoga class characterized by relaxing poses held a little longer. Poses target safely lengthening & reshaping the connective tissues of the body. This class is great for brand new beginners, and is a relaxing way to begin your weekend. Please check the schedule for the next class.
Restorative Vinyasa/Slow Flow: A perfect blend of Restorative ("yin") and invigorating Vinyasa ("yang") yoga - ride the wave of breath into & out of poses. Safe, intelligent sequencing & approaching poses in stages characterize this class. This class is great for brand new beginners, yogis/yoginis with a strong vinyasa practice, and anyone wanting to destress & unwind in a new way.
Chair Yoga: a gentle hatha yoga class tailored to seniors and to those with limited mobility. Class is done almost entirely in a chair and simple movements that can improve balance, flexibility, and lung capacity are practiced at each session. Beginner's Hatha Flow: basic Hatha Yoga practice combined with an introduction to the principles of Flow (Vinyasa/Power/Ashtanga) Yogas. You will learn the Sun Salutations as well as basic standing poses, seated & reclined poses, fundamental breathing techniques. Designed to suit the needs of most everyone.
Community Hatha Yoga: basic Hatha Yoga practice designed to suit the needs of most everyone. All proceeds from this class will be donated to local charities. 60 minutes, $5.
Adult Beginner Ballet: A dance class for all adults, from 2 left feet and no dance background to the avid dancer with formal training. Basic introduction to the principles of ballet for adults. Taught by Mandy Tweedle, 35 years of dance, health & fitness training. CLASS WILL BE TAUGHT IN A SERIES FORM BEGINNING IN MARCH. Call Kellie to register.
Level 2/3 Classes: for athletes wanting to cross-train or those looking for a great whole-body workout
Vinyasa Flow Yoga & Wake up Flow Yoga: Learn the fundamentals of Vinyasa Flow Yoga- a cardiovascular, whole-body workout that will leave you feeling better than a gym workout! Physically fit beginners & athletes are welcome. Be prepared to sweat!
Mandala Yoga: A Jeweled Lotus tm Yoga original class! Taught on a special, round yoga mat (6 feet in diameter), this class blends principles of Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Tai Chi, and creative dance to reconnect with our center. A "lunar" yoga class in the sense that we alter the spatial directions of most yoga classes - moving away from linear, front-to-back movements, we'll instead investigate circular, side-to-side movents. Hot Yoga: An alignment-based yoga class performed in a heated room (90-95 degrees). Works on developing core & lower body strength. 75 minutes.
Level 4/5 Classes: for those with a consistent, vigorous yoga practice
Power Hour: A challenging Power/Vinyasa Flow Yoga class- tone the cardiovascular system, develop core strength, and work your whole body. Physically fit beginners & athletes are welcome. 60 minutes.
Advanced Vinyasa Flow Yoga: Our most challenging class. Appropriate for those who attend the Power Hour or Mixed Vinyasa Flow on a regular basis & would like a little more work! Meets once monthly. By invitation only. Contact Kellie for the next class.
Ashtanga Yoga: The foundation of all the Power, Vinyasa Flow, and Flow styles of Hatha Yoga, this is a designated set of poses performed in a certain order. We move through the poses of the primary sequence slowly and carefully so as to avoid injury. 90 minutes. CLASS WILL MEET ON SUNDAYS BEGINNING MARCH 7, 9:30-11 AM.
Other Class offerings Yoga for Athletes: What kind of athlete are you? Cyclists, runners, and swimmers will appreciate the challenge of Power & Vinyasa yogas and will appreciate the lengthening of the large muscles in the legs. Golfers, softball, baseball, volleyball, & basketball players will appreciate the break on the shoulders that Hot Yoga gives. Dancers, gymnasts, & cheerleaders will enjoy the challenge & core strength required for Vinyasa/Power/Ashtanga. Just need to relax? Restorative Yoga or Introduction to Yoga are also great classes for athletes.
Golfer's Yoga: Designed to specifically address the structural and functional issues unique to the golfer's body. Reduce tension in your swing arm, restore body symmetry and relieve low back pain. Yoga for Stress Relief: Yoga for the stressed! Come relax and rejuvenate with this style of yoga designed to increase feelings of well-being, reduce tension and improve sleep quality. Yoga for Stress Relief is the perfect antidote to a frenzied mind and a demanding schedule. Series class and beginner's welcome. Until the next series, consider attending the Slow Flow class on Tuesday evenings at 6 pm and Saturday mornings at 9:30 am. To register for the next series, contact Kellie.
Kid's Yoga: Age-appropriate introduction to the practice of yoga tailored to children. Kid's Yoga can help children develop body awareness, balance, flexibility, creativity and respect for themselves and others. Children will learn yoga fundamentals, basic anatomy, methods of non-competitive play and relaxation techniques. This class is taught in a series form over the course of seven weeks to facilitate greater learning and retention.
Yoga for Children with Special Needs: Yoga for children with autism, yoga for children with ADHD and yoga for children with other special needs is available. Please contact Kellie for more information on how yoga can help your special needs child.
